Tempers and emotions are running high in March.

That’s usually par for the course. It’s not atypical to see a little bit of a fire in a coach’s postgame press conference this time of year.

But LSU’s Will Wade and Louisana’s Bob Marlin cranked that up a notch.

In the Tigers’ win against ULL in the first round of the NIT, Marlin had to be held back from Wade after LSU fans chanted “little brother,” which earned both coaches technicals.

That was just the beginning. In the postgame press conferences, both coaches shared their dislike of each other. Wade referenced that LSU “ain’t scared” and that he took exception that ULL “took shots” at LSU. Marlin said that “it took LSU two years to win 27 games” and that ULL’s RPI should’ve resulted in them getting the home NIT game, not LSU.

There was much, much more. Here’s some awesome editing from Jacques Doucet of WAFB:

They should “sit there and enjoy the opportunity to play us” might’ve been the most savage line from Wade.

For a couple of teams who hadn’t played in nearly a decade, it’s safe to say this in-state rivalry is alive and well.
