WATCH: LSU RBs discuss relationship with legendary Heisman winner Billy Cannon
LSU’s Nick Brossette and Clyde Edwards-Helaire are the current torchbearers for a long line of outstanding LSU running backs.
A line that dates all the way back to Billy Cannon.
The 1959 Heisman Trophy winner, who died in May, will be immortalized with a statue outside of Tiger Stadium that will be unveiled Friday. In a clip shared on Twitter by Jacques Doucet, Brossette and Edwards-Helaire share their experiences meeting Cannon, the only Heisman winner in LSU history.

This week is significant to the dedication of Cannon’s statue, given his most memorable play came against Ole Miss in 1959. Trailing 3-0 late on Halloween night, Cannon broke several tackles on his 89-yard punt return touchdown that lifted the Tigers to a 7-3 victory against their most bitter rivals at the time.
No. 5 LSU (4-0, 1-0 SEC) hosts Ole Miss (3-1, 0-1) at 9 p.m. ET on Saturday.
