Whit Weeks’ status is now up in the air after he was carted off the field due to injury in the first half of the Texas Bowl, quickly taking the wind out of the sails out of LSU fans across the nation. Things are not looking good at all either as Weeks had an air cast placed on his right leg with less than 2 minutes remaining in the second quarter.
Weeks went down on a 1-yard touchdown rush by Baylor standout Dawson Pendergrass and was clearly in pain and grabbing his leg before trainers went out and he was ultimately removed from the field. This is a major loss for the Tigers defense as Weeks has been one of the largest assets to the team on either side of the ball, making history as a sophomore within the program. He came into the game with a total of 119 tackles, including 58 solo takedowns (among the best in the SEC), coupled with 10 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.
It will be interesting to watch what happens moving forward for Weeks and how LSU is able to bounce back from this loss of such an important player.
