When the coaching carousel stopped spinning this offseason, Les Miles was left without a job. Miles is vocal about wanting to coach again, but if he fails to find a new team for 2018, would he head to ESPN or decide to enjoy retirement? One sportsbook has decided to take bets on what the former LSU coach will be doing next year.

Offshore sportsbook BookMaker.eu has released odds on Miles’ occupation for 2018, and it’s clear what they’re handicappers expect The Mad Hatter to be doing next fall:

  • NCAA coach -350
  • Media analyst +250
  • No football job +1500
  • NFL coach +3500

If you feel Miles will be coaching another college team, you need to be quite confident in that prediction as it takes risking $350 to win $100. If you feel Miles will make the jump to the NFL, you could be looking at a big payday as a $100 bet would win $3500.

With a 141-55 record at Oklahoma State and LSU, and a national championship ring from his Tigers days, it’s understandable why Miles returning to college coaching is the odds-on favorite. Miles wasn’t shy about his interest in various Power 5 openings after getting fired from LSU in September.

Miles, 63, spoke about his desire to coach again while visiting Nebraska for a coaches clinic in March.

“I want to coach football,” Miles said, per Omaha.com. “That’s pretty simple. I want an opportunity at a place that can win and a place where they really want to invest in the players. If they do that, I’m good.”
