Mississippi State football has reportedly added a non-conference game to its 2024 schedule.

The Bulldogs will take on Toledo on Saturday, Sept. 14 in Starkville. According to a public records request by FBSSchedules.com, the Bulldogs have paid the Rockets $1.2 million for travelling to Davis Wade to play the game.

Toledo takes the place of Utah State, which dropped the Bulldogs in favor of USC in July. Toledo did similarly and will have to cancel its Sept. 14 game against Western Kentucky following this development.

Mississippi State’s matchup against the Rockets comes during Week 3 following matchups to start the season against Eastern Kentucky and Arizona State. MSU plays 1 more non-conference game against UMass on Nov. 2, 2024.

This will be the first-ever matchup between Mississippi State and Toledo in their history.
