Mississippi State did not need a lot of offense to defeat Arkansas on Saturday. As one would expect, MSU’s 7-3 victory registers as one of the lowest-scoring SEC games in years.

The point total of 10 – hope everyone took the under – ties the total last seen in the defensive battle between Alabama and LSU in 2016.

Mississippi State was famously on the wrong side of a low-scoring contest 15 years ago, losing to Auburn 3-2 in 2008. The Bulldogs’ 7 points are the fewest by an SEC winner since that game.

At the end of the day, a win is a win, no matter the final score. For MSU, it was extra special to give Zach Arnett his first SEC victory as a head coach.

Mississippi State improves to 4-3 with the win. Auburn is up next for MSU in Week 9.
