As loud as Davis Wade Stadium is in Starkville, it went silent Thursday night.

Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald was injured on a rushing attempt, and he was carted off the field. It’s unknown what the injury is at this time or the severity, but it appeared to be a lower leg or ankle injury. The replay looked really bad, and we’re not going to post the video.

This isn’t good news for Mississippi State already losing 7-0 to Ole Miss.

Fitzgerald is the heart and soul of the Bulldogs’ offense, and hopefully, it wasn’t as bad as it looked.

Ole Miss players were all kneeling out of respect for Fitzgerald, and some players even cheered when he was put on the cart to show respect.

Keytaon Thompson entered the game as Fitzgerald’s backup.

We’ll provide an update as soon as it is released.
