The college football world last week was again reminded how Mike Leach can install and execute an offense like few others as Mississippi State knocked off LSU.

Now comes this stat from Fox Sports, which states that Leach has coached 7 of the 12 quarterbacks to pass for 600 yards since 2000. Five of them came at Texas Tech, including Patrick Mahomes, and then there was Luke Falk at Washington State, before K.J. Costello to start this season.

After the game, and at his Monday press conference, Leach tried to down play the record-setting performance from Saturday when Costello set the SEC single-game passing record.

“We played together as a team,” Leach said. “We didn’t play perfect. We weren’t necessarily consistent, but we did play together. Kept pushing one another. We never emotionally backed off our focus to go out there and play.”

In true Air Raid fashion, Leach and Costello spread the ball around.

RB Kylin Hill had eight catches for 158 yards, including a 75-yard receiving touchdown on a one-play possession that gave Mississippi a 27-24 lead in the third quarter. Ten different Bulldogs caught passes from Costello, including Kwatrivous Johnson.
