Will Rogers status was made known just a few hours ahead of Saturday’s bout between Mississippi State and Arkansas.

ESPN’s Chris Low reported that the senior quarterback will not play against the Razorbacks on Saturday as he continues to nurse his shoulder, which he injured on Oct. 7 against Western Michigan, back to health.

Rogers has recorded 1,275 yards, 10 touchdowns and 4 interceptions so far this season.

Mike Wright will start in Rogers’ place on Saturday. Though it is his first career-start for the Bulldogs, Wright is an SEC veteran, spending the last 3 seasons at Vanderbilt. Last year, Wright recorded 974 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and 4 interceptions in a season riddled with injury.

This year, Wright has thrown just 11 passes, completing 8 of them for 61 yards and a touchdown.

The Bulldogs are hoping Wright will be able to get things done in Rogers’ absence. Both teams come into the game looking for their first conference win. Arkansas is looking to avoid a 6th-straight loss in the game and Mississippi State is looking to win back-to-back games after beating Western Michigan in its last game.
