On Friday, it was revealed that Mizzou OL coach Glen Elarbee was leaving the Tigers to join former OC Josh Heupel’s coaching staff at UCF.

However, while Mizzou coach Barry Odom is thrilled for Heupel’s new opportunity, he’s not so happy about the way Elarbee left the program.

According to STLToday.com, Odom said his players and coaches are trying to regroup after the unexpected departure of the OL coach:

“In the world of the coaching moves, you’re going to lose guys, you’re going to gain guys,” Odom said. “I’m happy for Coach Heupel getting the job that he did. He’ll do a great job there.

“Glen Elarbee, I found out this morning, he made the decision to go with him. I’m a little indifferent about that one. I know this: I met with the offensive line. I met with the offense. They’re determined to go finish this the right way. We’ve got a lot of really good coaches around here that care about their kids and their word means something. That means something to me.”

Odom added that he doesn’t think Elarbee did right by the players with the way news broke about his departure:

“There’s ways to handle things in this business and ways not,” Odom said. “I was surprised (the players) learned the way they did.”

What’s done is done, though, so now the Tigers will try to rebuild their offensive staff as they prepare for the Texas Bowl against the Texas Longhorns.

Who will call plays remains to be seen, but Odom needs to get that sorted out now.
