Eli Drinkwitz following loss at Georgia: ‘We came here to win, not keep it close’

Eli Drinkwitz addressed reporters following Missouri’s 30-21 loss to No. 2 Georgia Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers played a heck of a football game but came up just short after a few late misfires from QB Brady Cook. But when it comes down to it, Georgia is still Georgia. And Week 10’s matchup was still played in Athens.
But don’t give those excuses to Drinkwitz. He was adamant postgame that he and his staff came to Mizzou to win, not to keep things close.
This is the 2nd straight season Missouri has “kept things close” against the Bulldogs without walking away with a victory.
Drinkwitz: “We came here to win, not keep it close. I’m not deterred from what we’re trying to accomplish here.”

The Tigers are now 7-2 on the season with losses to Georgia and Alabama. They do, however, have wins over LSU and Kansas State to round out a strong resume.
Missouri has another opportunity at knocking off a top 25 team next week when Tennessee comes to town. Drinkwitz may not be satisfied, but the only way to proceed is forward.
Let’s see how the Tigers respond.
