Central Michigan has bumped assistant head coach Tim Skipper up to the interim coach position as preparations for this weekend’s season opener continue.
For now, though, our thoughts and prayers are with McElwain and we hope for a speedy recovery for the former SEC coach.
McElwain was Florida’s head coach from 2015-17, winning 2 SEC East titles. He also served as Alabama’s offensive coordinator from 2008 to 2011 under Nick Saban.
