The Missouri Tigers have announced the hiring of Vernon Hargreaves to Barry Odom’s staff as a defensive assistant.
Mizzou Football made the announcement on Twitter that Hargreaves is joining the Tigers after coaching at Arkansas since 2015. He will coach inside LBs at Missouri.
Hargreaves has an extensive resume and served on the Miami Hurricanes staff from 1998-2005, helping lead the team to a national championship in 2001. He also coached future NFL stars Jonathan Vilma, Dan Morgan, and D.J. Williams while at Miami.
Here is the announcement graphic that Mizzou shared on Twitter:
Fans in the SEC will likely recognize the name as his son, Vernon Hargreaves III, had a strong career at Florida before getting drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft.
The hire should be a strong one for the Tigers as they are getting a talented coach with top notch experience under his belt.
Hargreaves’ daughter, who works as a part of the football program at South Carolina, took time to welcome her dad to the SEC East:
