The rival Mizzou fans would most want to play again every year is Kansas, but the Jayhawks haven’t been willing to play the Tigers since Mizzou left for the SEC.

However, a nice consolation prize would be a return of the Braggin’ Rights rivalry with Illinois, a football game that used to take place in St. Louis every year. The teams still play every year in basketball, but they haven’t met on the football field since 2010.

On Monday, it was announced that the two schools agreed on a four-year return of the Braggin’ Rights series, beginning in 2026 and running through 2029:

Interestingly, this time around it will be a home-and-home series instead of a neutral-site series in St. Louis.

The series doesn’t start again for several more years, so no one knows how good either team will be by 2026, but it’s a good game that should be played more often.

Again, it’s not Kansas, but Mizzou fans should be plenty excited to see the Fighting Illini back on the schedule for the future.
