No, Drew Lock didn’t throw for seven touchdown against Missouri State in the season opener this year like he did in 2017, but it was only because he didn’t have to.

The Mizzou quarterback has thrown for 687 yards and eight touchdowns in the Tigers’ two wins over UT Martin and Wyoming and looks every bit as good as he did in 2017, if not better.

After leading the country with 44 touchdown passes in 2017, Lock may not finish with that many this year, but his other numbers could improve. Mizzou fans are loving what they’re seeing so far, and after Saturday’s 40-13 win over Wyoming, they showered the star quarterback with “Heisman” chants:

With what Tua Tagovailoa, Kyler Murray and others are doing at their respective schools, Lock will need to continue his incredible play if he’s going to be in the Heisman discussion at the end of the year.

But he’s showing no signs of slowing down thus far, and if the Tigers continue to win, fans may indeed be proven right.
