Arkansas blasts past Tennessee with 4 home runs, advances to quarterfinals vs. Texas

Arkansas started Wednesday’s 2nd round matchup against 10-seed Tennessee about as well as it possibly could have.
The Razorbacks mashed 2 home runs off Tennessee pitcher Evan Blanco, then smacked an RBI double down the right field line to take an early 4-0 lead. Arkansas never looked back and will now face off against 2-seed Texas in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
Wednesday night’s win snaps a 3-game losing streak for Arkansas in the SEC Tournament.
Zack Stewart and TJ Pompey were the stars of the show Wednesday night for Arkansas. The pair combined for 5 hits, 6 RBIs and 3 home runs, including 2 of the first 3 home runs of the afternoon. Cam Kozeal’s solo shot in the first inning added to Arkansas’s home run derby.
Pompey’s home run came at an absolutely crucial junction in the game. The Vols clawed their way back to a 2-run deficit after trailing 4-0 early but saw Arkansas’s lead balloon to 5 after Pompey’s no-doubter to center left in the 5th. Check it out:
Dave Van Horn’s squad isn’t interesting in being done quite yet. The Razorbacks will face off against Texas for the first time this season at 3 p.m. CT.
