Coastal Carolina is fighting to keep its season going another day. The Chanticleers will have to try without head coach Kevin Schnall and a key assistant.
Everyone was stunned that Schanll was tossed in the bottom of the 1st inning of Game 2 of the College World Series Finals between Coastal Carolina and LSU. It’s an elimination game for Coastal Carolina, as LSU is up 1-0 in the best-of-3 series.
Schnall was heard telling the umpire he missed 3 pitches before he was ejected. First base coach Matt Schilling, one of Schnall’s top assistants, was also tossed from the game.

As expected, the fan and media reaction to the umpire ejecting Schnall is overwhelmingly negative.
With the ejection, Schnall would be subject to a suspension for a winner-take-all Game 3 on Monday if the Chanticleers were to even the series. Chad Oxendine is now the acting head coach.
Coastal Carolina has taken a 1-0 lead entering the 3rd inning.
