The College World Series has entered a weather delay.

Play was suspended before the 4th inning of Monday’s Game 8 winner’s bracket contest between LSU and UCLA. LSU holds a 5-3 lead.

There was plenty of excitement in the early going on Monday night. In the top of the 1st inning, UCLA got to LSU starter Anthony Evanson, scoring 3 runs on 4 hits.

The Tigers, though, quickly erased the deficit. With 1 out, LSU managed 4 consecutive hits. A Jake Brown single got the Tigers on the board. Jared Jones then gave LSU a 4-3 lead with a 3-run home run.

In the bottom of the 3rd inning, LSU extended its lead when Luis Hernandez singled up the middle, plating Ethan Frey to make it 5-3.

After the rough first inning, Eyanson settled in an did not allow a hit in the 2nd or 3rd innings. He’s currently at 44 pitches, with 32 strikes.

The pitching situation will be one to watch coming out of the weather delay. Both teams may have to go into their bullpens. The losing team is looking at a quick turnaround, playing an elimination game on Tuesday.
