Florida baseball closing in on hiring new pitching coach, per report
Florida is set to hire Oregon State’s Rich Dorman as its next pitching coach, according to a report.
That news was shared by Ryan Harlan of Beavers Edge on Thursday afternoon. Dorman has been the pitching coach at Oregon State since 2019 and has helped build one of the nation’s best pitching staffs.
Oregon State led the nation in ERA this season with a mark of 3.22. The Beavers also struck out 11.9 batters per 9 innings, which ranked No. 3 nationally during the 2026 season.
Dorman would be joining a Florida program with high expectations on an annual basis. The Gators have 14 total College World Series trips, most recently making it to Omaha in 2024. They were also runner-up in 2023 and won the National Championship in 2023.

However, Florida’s pitching staff was underwhelming in 2026, causing the Gators to bow out in the regional round. Florida was 40th in the nation with a 4.61 ERA this season.
After the season ended, Kevin O’Sullivan decided to part ways with coach David Kopp.
The transfer portal is currently open and Florida is expected to add talent at a number of different positions over the coming days and weeks.
