Florida State is moving on to a Super Regional. The Seminoles rallied to beat Mississippi State 5-2 on Sunday, winning the Tallahassee Regional and ending MSU’s 2025 season.

For FSU, it’s the first time winning a regional matchup after trailing through 6 innings. MSU had a 2-0 lead through the 7th-inning stretch before the Noles tied it up in the bottom of the 7th with a 2-run home run off the bat of Cal Fisher.

In the top of the 8th inning, Florida State finally took the lead, putting 3 runs on the board. The Noles loaded the bases and Max Williams broke the tie to give FSU its first lead.

Wes Mendes delivered a career-high 8 innings. As the winning pitcher, Mendes allowed the 2 earned runs on 5 hits and 2 walks, striking out 9 ovr 105 pitches (69 strikes). Mississippi State used 3 pitches. Luke Dotson, who pitched 3 innings in relief of starter Karson Ligon, was the losing pitcher (3 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, K, BB).

Florida State head coach Link Jarrett was not even in the dugout to see his team pull off the comeback. Jarrett was tossed in the 2nd inning. In the 9th inning, both a Mississippi State batter and assistant would be tossed for arguing with the umpire.

It’s the 19th trip to the Super Regionals for Florida State, the most of any college baseball program. The Tallahassee Regional is paired with the Corvallis Regional, hosted by No. 8 national seed Oregon State.
