Georgia baseball adds elite first baseman transfer from Indiana

Former Indiana infielder Jake Hanley, who entered the transfer portal last week with a ‘Do Not Contact’ tag, has committed to Georgia, according to his Instagram bio.
That’s a massive addition for the Bulldogs, and their first of two commitments on the day. Georgia also landed a pledge from Oregon slugger Naulivou Lauaki Jr. just a few hours ago.
As you can see below, Hanley was a monster hitter for the Hoosiers in 2026. He mashed 14 home runs with a .338 batting average across 54 starts at first base and 110 starts for his 2-year career. In 2026, Hanley collected 71 hits, 56 runs, 14 doubles and 48 RBIs, enough to be selected to the Big Ten All-Second Team.

Hanley is considered ESPN’s No. 46 player in the transfer portal, but he ranks as high as No. 2 in the portal according to 64Analytics, a college baseball statistics and rankings website.
Georgia loses a lot of firepower from last season’s record-breaking crew, and Hanley (alongside Lauaki) is a good pivot in attempt to replace that production. SEC Player of the Year Dan Jackson is gone, as are Brennan Hudson and Michael O’Shaughnessy — both of whom played first base for the Bulldogs last season.
