Georgia baseball added a transfer commitment from former Florida RHP Cooper Walls on Friday, according to a report from On3Sports’ Pete Nakos.
With that, Walls will play for a third team in his 3rd year of college baseball. The former Big West Freshman Pitcher of the Year at Hawai’i transferred to Florida ahead of this past season and started 10 games for the Gators with a 7.17 ERA across 37.2 innings. Most of his starts came during midweek action, and he struck out 37 batters with 12 total walks for the season.
Walls is the second addition the Bulldogs have made from the transfer portal so far. Former Long Beach State RHP Luke Howe is also on board after, similarly to Walls, winning Big West Freshman Pitcher of the Year.
Walls had a brutal showing in Florida’s final game of the year, giving up 2 earned runs across a single inning to Troy. You could say Walls needs a change of scenery, and that’s exactly what Georgia provides. The Bulldogs are one of 5 SEC teams still standing in Omaha and will face off against Oklahoma on Saturday to kick off their College World Series.
