Georgia knocked off Texas 7-1 on Friday in its College World Series opener and will face Oklahoma on Monday. The winner moves one step closer to a spot in the best-of-three final, which begins on Saturday.

The Bulldogs will start right-hander Caden Aoki against the Sooners, head coach Wes Johnson revealed on Sunday. Aoki is 9-1 with a 4.04 ERA this season in 19 appearances and eight starts. He has allowed 37 runs (35 earned) and 78 hits in 78.1 innings while striking out 104 and walking just 27.

This is the first meeting of the season between Georgia and Oklahoma. Oklahoma, in the College World Series for the first time since its runner-up finish in 2022, had little trouble in its CWS opener against Alabama on Saturday. Cord Rager allowed just three hits through seven innings, striking out eight and walking none as the Sooners knocked off the Crimson Tide 9-0.

Georgia opened up a 4-0 lead in its game against Texas on Friday, eventually adding three more in the seventh as it held the Longhorns to four hits and a single run. Texas also had three errors. Joey Volchko went the distance, striking out 15 and walking just one batter.
