Georgia’s Kolby Branch hits HR in final college AB, gets perfect family moment
Georgia’s Kolby Branch didn’t have the perfect ending to his college career โ but he came close.
A perfect ending for Branch would have meant the Bulldogs prevailing in Omaha to win the College World Series. Instead, Georgia fell to Oklahoma in the semifinals on Wednesday night and will head back to Athens without accomplishing their ultimate goal.
But Branch did manage to create some magic in his final act as a college baseball player. With Georgia trailing 11-4 in the 9th inning, the senior belted a solo home run to left field.
His brother, Oklahoma shortstop Kyle Branch, was caught in a moment of disbelief as the ball sailed over the fence. With the game out of reach for UGA, the brothers celebrated with a high-5 near second base.
