Kevin O’Sullivan declines comment after NSFW outburst at Coastal Carolina and NCAA officials goes viral

Kevin O’Sullivan was unable to guide Florida out of the regional round, falling to East Carolina 11-4 on Sunday. However, that was not the major topic of the event.
What drew headlines and was a topic of conversation at the Conway Regional involved a pre-game outburst from O’Sullivan that was directed at officials from Coastal Carolina and the NCAA. While the full scope of O’Sullivan’s outburst was unclear, he expressed some disgruntlement at the change in start time for their game.
Originally set for 12 pm ET, the game was moved back an hour after a late finish to Saturday night’s win by Coastal Carolina over the Pirates.
In the exchange that has since gone viral, O’Sullivan can be heard unleashing multiple obscenities, describing the situation as “f—ing bulls—.”
“So what that they f—ing played late,” cracked O’Sullivan. “It started an 8 o’clock game, what the f—? It didn’t start at f—ing midnight, it didn’t start at 11, it didn’t start at 10:30, it started at 8. Give me a break!”
O’Sullivan was asked about the situation after the season-ending loss to ECU, but he said he did not have a comment on the matter. He added that he “handled it properly” at the end of the game.

However, that was not enough to satisfy Coastal Carolina head coach Kevin Schnall. After the Chanticleers completed the regional with a 1-0 win on Sunday night, Schnall went into a fiery rant, describing O’Sullivan and his antics as disrespectful toward the program’s associate AD and the field crew.
“It’s not okay, and this needs to be brought up,” said Schnall. “Absolutely disrespectful. As a coach, it’s our job to mentor young kids, and the way he treated 2 site reps, the way he treated our associate AD, the way he treated our field crew is absolutely unacceptable. That’s what I’m most disappointed about. This is a national champion coach who believes he can come in here and try to bully people around.”
We’ll see if O’Sullivan revisits the matter after things die down, but the Gators are headed home without reaching the Super Regionals after a run to the College World Series a season ago.
