LSU baseball added a big-time commitment on Thursday evening, landing a pledge from former Florida infielder Cade Kurland.

The Florida transfer is an SEC veteran and MLB Draft eligible, notable considering he got hot at the perfect time this past season for Florida in the NCAA Tournament. Kurland hit .500 and launched 4 home runs in the Gainesville regional, finishing a 2026 season where he slashedย .279/.384/.469 with 9 home runs and 33 RBIs.

For his career, Kurland has averaged .276 with 142 RBI and 43 homers across 4 seasons with the Gators.

Kurland is the 4th player to announce his commitment to Jay Johnson and the Tigers so far this offseason, joining top transfer target Binno Watters out of Notre Dame, Texas State infielder Dawson Park and Gonzaga RHP Dalton Hood.

LSU had a season to forget in 2026. The Tigers finished the year 30-28 and 9-21 in conference play, failing to reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in over a decade after winning the College World Series in 2025.
