When it rains, it pours.
The morning after LSU head coach Jay Johnson announced that Cooper Moore will miss the remainder of the season with an elbow injury, the Tigers announced that another Tiger will miss the final games of the 2026-27 season. Jake Brown, who starts in the Tigers’ outfield, suffered a broken hamate bone which will require surgery.
The Tigers’ struggles only get worse with this news. Brown is one of LSU’s best hitters, having logged 16 home runs and 49 RBIs through 41 games of action. The junior outfielder is draft eligible and therefore has likely played his last game in Baton Rouge.
LSU has lost 6 straight SEC contests, swept at the hands of both Ole Miss and Texas A&M. The Tigers are a ho-hum 23-18 on the season and 6-12 in conference play with 4 weekend series remaining before the SEC Tournament.
The Tigers will be back in action on Tuesday night, facing off against New Orleans in a midweek matchup. From there, LSU will travel to Starkville to take on the No. 13 Mississippi State Bulldogs, looking for their first SEC win since downing Tennessee in early April.
