Mississippi State baseball got a big-time boost on Wednesday afternoon by getting a commitment from Ball State transfer outfielder Blake Bevis.

The junior isn’t just a nice piece from the Mid-American Conference. He was a first-team all-conference power hitter at Ball State in 2025, so this is a player who can potentially make a big difference in Starkville in 2026.

Bevis announced his commitment to Mississippi State on Wednesday with a post on his social media account that tells fans how excited he is to join the Bulldogs and the SEC baseball scene. The post contained a headline that read: “Let’s do it Starkville”.

Here is Bevis’s announcement on social media, complete with pictures of him in Bulldogs baseball attire:

Bevis is still eligible for the Major League Baseball Draft next month despite the commitment to Mississippi State. But if he does head to Starkville for the 2026 season, the Bulldogs will be getting a good one. Bevils hit .301 this past season with 18 home runs and 52 RBIs. In addition to being an outfielder, the versatile Bevis can also play first base, so he’s the complete package.

Although he comes from Ball State, Bevis is a native of SEC country, being originally from Brentwood, Tenn. Bevis was a 2nd-team All-MAC selection while playing first base in 2024. During that 2024 season, he hit .310 with 12 homers and 55 RBIs.

Now, it appears the power-hitting outfielder/first baseman is heading to Mississippi State to give the Bulldogs’ offense a jolt in 2026.
