Party Like It’s 1999: Alabama reaches College World Series with Super Regional sweep

For the first time in 27 years, Alabama is going back to the College World Series. The No. 7 national seed Crimson Tide completed a sweep of St. John’s to win the Tuscaloosa Super Regional.
UA had a 7-2 lead on SJU when weather delayed Sunday’s Game 2. Alabama finished the job on Monday, punching its ticket to Omaha for the first time since 1999.

The Johnnies were hanging tight for much of Game 2, trying to force a decisive Game 3. Jason Torres busted the game open with a grand slam to make it 7-2, the game’s final score.

Alabama is now 42-19 in 2026. The Crimson Tide have now won all 5 NCAA Tournament games. UA has won 10 of its last 12 dating back to the regular season.
In Omaha, Alabama will play either Oklahoma or Kansas. The Lawrence Super Regional was also delayed by weather. OU is up 1-0 in the best-of-3 and leads in Game 2.
