Heading into Selection Monday, Georgia, Auburn, Texas and Alabama were widely expected to be top-8 national seeds, and confirmation came early during the Selection Monday. Florida made a late push for a top-8 national seed to control its Super Regional destiny, and the Gators received the good news that they are the No. 8 overall seed in this year’s NCAA Tournament.
Texas A&M was thought to be in the mix for a top-8 seed, but the selection committee ultimately seeded the Aggies at No. 12 overall. Mississippi State, the seventh SEC team to host an NCAA Regional, is the No. 14 overall seed.
Oklahoma, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Kentucky will be on the road in the opening round. UK was considered a bubble team.
