Several SEC baseball stars named to Collegiate National Team roster

Team USA has selected its roster for the inaugural World Collegiate Baseball Championships.

The roster, which will come together for that tournament in Taiwan later this month, features several former SEC baseball stars. Here’s the full list of 15 players from the SEC:

  • Kolby Branch, Georgia
  • Chase Fralick, Auburn
  • Trent Grindlinger, Tennessee
  • Luke Harrison, Texas
  • Walker Hooks, Ole Miss
  • Aidan King, Florida
  • Ryan McPherson, Mississippi State
  • Anthony Pack Jr., Texas
  • Nico Partida, Texas A&M
  • Jackson Sanders, Auburn
  • JD Stein, South Carolina
  • Tomas Valincius, Mississippi State
  • Ryker Waite, Vanderbilt
  • Joshua Whritenour, Florida

Here’s a look at the full 28-man roster:

Per a press release, the roster was chosen following an 11-day training camp that took place in North Carolina and Virginia.

โ€œAfter nearly two weeks of an extremely competitive Training Camp, we are excited to finalize the 28-man roster that will represent the United States in the inaugural World Collegiate Baseball Championship,โ€ USA Baseball General Manager of Professional and Collegiate National Teams Eric Campbell said in a press release. โ€œThe talent at Training Camp was incredible and made this decision difficult, but we are confident that these 28 players will represent the U.S. well in our quest to win a gold medal.โ€

The World Collegiate Baseball Championships will begin in Taiwan on July 11. The tournament will begin with 3 days of pool play before advancing to the semifinal and championship rounds.

Team USA will face Korea on July 11 to open pool play. They will also take on Chinese Taipei and Japan during the pool play round.
