South Carolina baseball made a massive addition to its 2027 roster on Saturday afternoon.

The Gamecocks have earned a commitment from ex-Wake Forest slugger Luke Costello. He shared the news of his commitment on social media, thanking both Wake Forest as well as South Carolina’s new coaching staff for the opportunity:

Costello was a big-time contributor for Wake Forest in 2026 before entering the transfer portal. He hit .302 with 17 homers and 62 RBI. He also walked (34) nearly as often as he struck out (42) across 53 games for the Demon Deacons.

His brother, Andrew Costello, announced last week that he also will transfer from Wake Forest to South Carolina. Both Costello brothers will be joined by hitting coach Bill Cilento, who is headed to South Carolina by way of Winston-Salem as well.

Now entering his draft-eligible season, Luke Costello figures to be a big part of Kevin Schnall’s plans in Year 1 at the helm. Schnall was hired away from Coastal Carolina earlier this offseason and has been tasked with getting South Carolina baseball back to the top of the SEC.

South Carolina won back-to-back College World Series titles in 2011 and 2012. However, the Gamecocks have not been back to Omaha since that 2012 championship run.
