At this moment, the AP Top 25 rankings are considered college football’s rankings of record. In just a few weeks, however, the College Football Playoff selection committee will reveal its top 25. There are plenty of other rankings out there, though, including the Vegas rankings.
Phil Steele, widely recognized as one of college footballโs leading experts, offers a look into how the Vegas oddsmakers rank all 138 FBS teams throughout the season. Steele has connections to oddsmakers at the Las Vegas SuperBook and other casinos. He has published weekly in-season Vegas Power Ratings since his time at ESPN. Heโs independent these days, but continues to publish the Vegas numbers on a weekly basis in season.

On Thursday, Steele shared his updated Vegas Power Rankings for Week 7. The difference between two teams’ Vegas ratings can be used to figure out what the betting line would be if those teams were to meet on a neutral field. Steele reminds fans that the Vegas ratings do not always reflect previous on-field results.
Here’s where all 16 SEC teams stand in Steele’s Week 7 Vegas Power Rankings:
- No. 1 Georgia (136.40 Vegas Rating)
- No. 4 Alabama (133.32)
- No. 5 Texas (132.77)
- No. 7 LSU (129.25)
