It’s no secret that Tennessee and Vanderbilt are not particularly fond of each other. The in-state rivalry has increased in intensity in recent years, with the Volunteers’ success under Tony Vitello.

The Commodores and Vols are battling for the series on Sunday. UT took the series opener 3-2. Vandy evened the series with a 10-6 victory in Game 2.

Vanderbilt took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning, but Tennessee did not need long to respond. Andrew Fischer hit a moonshot home run in the bottom half of the inning, and he was fired up.

As one would expect, the Vandy Boys were not too pleased with Fischer and words were exchanged. Vanderbilt skipper Tim Corbin even came out of the dugout to talk to the umpire.

As a result, umpires warned both squads to keep things under control the rest of the way.

There has been plenty of action since Fischer’s homer. Vandy retook the lead 2-1 in the top of the 2nd, but Tennessee has answered in the bottom of the 2nd.

Looks like the rubber game won’t be lacking in excitement.
