Texas A&M and Texas did not get to play their series finale. After waiting hours in rain-delay mode, the game was finally called when it became clear that the weather deadline of 10 p.m. local time for first pitch would not be met.
Sunday’s Game 3 will not be made up, meaning Texas A&M’s 2 wins will now be considered a sweep for the 2026 regular-season Lone Star Showdown series.

Kirk Bohls of the Houston Chronicle shared some comments from Texas coach Jim Schlossnagle after the game was officially canceled. He said the Longhorns were disappointed not to get another shot at Texas A&M, but acknowledged the effort that was made to play the third game.
“The A&M administration and field crew did an outstanding job of attempting to find windows around the lightning and impending weather. The SEC rule is you can’t start a game after 10 pm so we basically exhausted every option and ran out of time,” Schlossnagle said.

“Obviously a disappointing weekend for us,” Texas coach Jim Schlossnagle said. “0ur guys were looking forward to playing in that atmosphere again. The Aggies outplayed us in every way in the two games, and we look forward to getting back on the field Tuesday.”
