Alabama basketball has released a statement regarding Aden Holloway, apparently in response to a motion granted Friday morning that allows the guard to leave the state of Alabama.
The statement reiterates that nothing has changed regarding Holloway’s status with Alabama. In other words, there is zero chance he suits up for Alabama on Friday night against Michigan despite now being able to leave the state.
Holloway is currently suspended and was removed from campus after being arrested for first-degree possession of Marijuana as well as failure to affix a tax stamp, both felonies in Alabama. Naturally, he was listed as “out” in the availability report for Alabama/Michigan this past week.
Nate Oats maintained from the beginning of this saga that Alabama will hold players accountable in situations like these. This recent statement is a concise testament to that. Here’s what Oats had to say following Holloway’s suspension a few weeks ago.
“Look, we’ve got standards in our program,” Nate Oats said. “We’ve got ways we’ve held our guys accountable, and we try to keep everything in house. Obviously, some of the situations, you can’t. This is one of those.”
