Mgbako was a huge addition for Texas A&M basketball after the 2024-25 campaign but missed most of his first season in College Station due to that season-ending foot surgery. Mgbako was limited to 7 games, averaging 10.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest.
Although he could have transferred after an injury-riddled season, Mgbako opted to return to College Station to continue under McMillan for his 4th season of college basketball. The 6-foot-8 forward previously played at Indiana before entering the portal.
Mgbako’s injury could have been a significant setback for the Aggies last season, but they still managed to exceed expectations. A&M went 11-7 in SEC play and earned a No. 10 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Aggies pulled off a first-round upset before bowing out in the second round.
In 2026-27, with Mgbako back alongside other key returners and newcomers, the Aggies will hope to take another step forward.
