Dick Vitale shares latest encouraging news about cancer fight

Dick Vitale has kept the world informed about his cancer battle, and the long-time ESPN college basketball analyst offered the latest positive update on Thursday that he is cancer free following a scan this week.
“Please God let many others waiting for test results hear those same MAGICAL words!” he shared on social media.
Vitale’s cancer battle centered on vocal cord surgeries to treat dysplasia and ulcerated lesions of the vocal cords. Vitale, 83, has battled melanoma and Lymphoma in the last year and took time away from calling games to focus on his cancer fight.
Vitale has been a consistent supporter to raise money toward the fight against cancer, specifically pediatric cancer, as his annual gala has raised millions of dollars to fight cancer over the years. And so it was fitting that Vitale was honored with the Jimmy V Award at the ESPYs earlier this summer.

He said in April that he was cleared to “ring the bell” after 7 months of treatments, and then was finally given the all-clear on Wednesday.
