Florida basketball’s Micah Handlogten will enter the transfer portal when the window opens tomorrow, April 7. This comes from a report from Joe Tipton, via Handlogten’s agent, Tod Seidel.
Handlogten currently has a medical hardship waiver pending for a 5th season of college eligibility. He arrived at Florida after a lone season at Marshall and has spent the past 3 seasons with Todd Golden and the Gators in Gainesville.
Handlogten missed most of last season due to injury, but his chances of being granted another season are pretty questionable. Handlogten never played more than 20 minutes in a single game last year (2025), but he appeared in 16 total matchups. We’ll just have to wait and see:
This move makes sense. Gators standouts Alex Condon and Rueben Chinyelu can both return for one more season, and Handlogten would only get one more season should his eligibility waiver be granted. No decision has been made by Chinyelu or Condon, but it makes sense that Handlogten would want more guaranteed minutes — especially if he’ll be well paid for it.
Handlogten’s numbers don’t show it, but he’s a strong player that was pushed down the depth chart in favor of a truly ridiculous Florida frontcourt. Chinyelu won the Naismith DPOY, Thomas Haugh was one of the best players in the SEC and Condon is a threat to drop a double-double each and every game.
Handlogten joins Olivier Rioux as players set to enter the transfer portal on April 7.
