Florida has apparently locked in head coach Todd Golden for the long-term.

Golden, who led the Gators to the 2025 national title and has restored Florida into a perennial basketball powerhouse in the SEC, signed a new 6-year contract that will keep him in Gainesville for the long haul. The deal was reported on Friday afternoon by CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein.

Rothstein also reported that Golden’s new contract at UF will keep the 41-year-old among the highest-paid coaches in the sport.

All Golden has done since he took over at Florida in 2022 is lead the Gators back to the mountaintop of college basketball while going a remarkable 103-41 during his tenure in Gainesville. Golden’s Gators went 36-4 during that special national championship run in 2024-25, and despite not repeating as champions last season, Golden still had UF near the top of the sport, as they went 27-8.

With a bevy of talent returning this fall, Golden is primed to have Florida right back in the national title hunt, and now he reportedly has a new hefty contract that will keep him around for many years ahead. Golden’s excellence has been felt throughout the SEC, with his Gators teams combining to go 50-22 in conference play since he took over.

Golden led the Gators to the promise land in 2025, with Florida capturing the national title. With Golden in the fold for the long term, UF will be taking another run at the national championship in 2027, and here is what the Kalshi odds are currently saying about Florida’s chances to win it all once again:
