Former Auburn basketball star Johni Broome is on the move.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Broome was dealt to the Los Angeles Clippers in a cost-cutting move for the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday evening. Philly also attached a second-round pick in the deal.
As Charania notes, this trade allows the 76ers to stay under the first apron even after accounting for the recent additions of LeBron James and Kentavious Caldwell Pope.

Broome has a fully-guaranteed contract for the upcoming season. His deal for the 2027-28 and 2028-29 seasons is non-guaranteed, according to Spotrac. He initially signed a 4 year, $8.69 million deal though only $3.4 million is guaranteed.
Broome will perhaps have more of an opportunity to play on a rebuilding Clippers roster next season. The Clippers have little depth at center behind veteran Brook Lopez.
Broome was a first-team All-American for Auburn in 2024-25 and entered the NBA as an undersized-but-skilled big man. He played 11 games for the 76ers during his rookie season but spent more time in the G-League with the Delaware Blue Coats.
