Former Kentucky guard Travis Perry is staying in the SEC next season, committing to Ole Miss. The former 4-star prospect and top-100 recruit in the Class of 2024 revealed his plans on Sunday, per Joe Tipton with On3 Sports.
Perry came to Lexington with a lot of potential as a high-profile, in-state recruit from Eddyville, KY. But the 6-foot-1, 188-pound Perry didn’t play much as a freshman. He did start 4 games for the Wildcats, but only averaged 2.7 points in 31 games. His best game came against Alabama when he scored 12 points.
Ole Miss is having a strong offseason, with Perry becoming the 4th 4-star transfer to commit to the Rebels. The other 3 players are former Kansas guard AJ Storr, former Louisville guard Koren Johnson and ex-LSU forward Corey Chest.
Perry hopes to fulfill his potential in Oxford after it didn’t work out in Lexington. He is the all-time leading scorer in Kentucky high school basketball history, averaging 32.2 points per game during his senior season of high school at Lyon County.
Perry was the 78th-ranked player nationally in the Class of 2024, the 7th-ranked point guard and the top-ranked player out of the state of Kentucky, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
