Former North Carolina star Seth Trimble is back in college basketball — for now.
A recent court ruling gave all class of 2022 student-athletes an additional year of college eligibility, allowing that class to benefit from the NCAA’s new 5-in-5 policy. While the NCAA is appealing that court decision, Trimble is currently eligible for the upcoming college basketball season.
With North Carolina having a full guard rotation, Trimble was required to look elsewhere. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, he has committed to Louisville where he will play under head coach Pat Kelsey:

Trimble is a massive addition for Louisville should the court ruling hold up. A 4-year contributor at North Carolina, Trimble averaged 14 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists per game last season for the Tar Heels.
He also averaged over 1 steal per game in each of his past 2 seasons in Chapel Hill.

Trimble joins a Louisville team that has significant Final Four aspirations for 2026-27. The Cardinals also brought in transfers like Jackson Shelstad, Flory Bidunga, Karter Knox and Alvaro Folguieras, among others.
The ACC men’s basketball schedule for 2026-27 has not yet been released.
