Georgia basketball added its 9th offseason commitment on Wednesday, landing a pledge from 3-star 6-foot-8 forward Mading Kuany out of Iowa United Prep. He chose the Bulldogs over Saint Mary’s and UNLV.
The Australia native previously played for Australia’s FIBA youth teams and COE (Center of Excellence), while also competing with the NBA Global Academy. His new teammate David Ugonna Ike is also an NBA Global Academy alum.
Kuany is the 15th and final scholarship addition of the offseason for Georgia basketball and, as mentioned, the 9th offseason pledge. He joins James Scott (Ole Miss), Andrew Osasuyi (St. Bonaventure), Brady Dunlap (St. Louis), Kemauri Millender (JUCO) and Freddie Dilione (Penn State) as well as Ugonna Ike, Hakeem Weems, Donovan Williams.
Kuany is athletic and likely to be a strong defender for the Bulldogs, though he comes in at a thin 6-8, 190 pounds. He’ll very likely need to put on more weight to see consistent minutes in the SEC. Last season at Iowa United, Kuany averaged 6.0 PPG, 5.3 RPG, and 1.8 BPG.
According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Kuany is the No. 300 overall prospect in the Class of 2026, as well as the No. 58 small forward and No. 7 player out of Iowa.
Ethan Stone is a Tennessee graduate and loves all things college football and college basketball. Firm believer in fouling while up 3.
