Jack Nunge floated across the lane and stretched out his right hand to block a potential game-winning shot from Kennesaw State, to help Xavier survive.
Xavier prevailed after it trailed by 13 points in the second half to beat Kennesaw State, 72-67. Nunge blocked a driving layup attempt by Terrell Burden in the closing seconds with Xavier clinging to a one-point lead. Nunge came into the game averaging one block per game, and this was about as valuable a block as one could deliver in the NCAA Tournament.
Xavier overall has built some momentum lately with wins in 6 of the last 7 games. They bounced back after they lost leading scorer Zach Freemantle, who suffered a season-ending foot injury in late January.
