Joe Lunardi published a few notes on Saturday’s contests as it relates to NCAA Tournament seeding on Friday afternoon.

The Iron Bowl of Basketball once again has some big-time stakes. While Auburn has already clinched the SEC’s regular-season title (and likely a No. 1 seed), Alabama has a lot on the line in this game. Per Lunardi, the Crimson Tide could get back into the mix for a No. 1 seed if they’re able to upset the Tigers on the road.

As of now, Lunardi is projecting the No. 1 seeds for the NCAA Tournament to be Auburn, Duke, Houston and Florida. But of course, there’s still more than a week to go before Selection Sunday, so anything can happen.

Speaking of the Gators, they may need a win on Saturday if they want to hold on to their No. 1 seed projection in March Madness. Per Lunardi, a Florida loss to Ole Miss on Saturday would open the door for Alabama or Tennessee on the 1-line.

A bit further down the conference standings, Lunardi also points out that the winner of Oklahoma at Texas on Saturday will likely be ‘in’ the projected field of 68 while the the loser will be “clearly” out of the bubble race.

With plenty on the line across the league, Saturday figures to be an intriguing day for the SEC.
