Friday, February 13th has the potential to be a simply massive day for Arkansas basketball.
On Wednesday, Class of 2026 combo guard Jordan Smith Jr. announced that he will commit to one of Arkansas, Kentucky, Duke, Syracuse, Indiana or Georgetown on Friday. While every team listed obviously has a chance to land Smith’s services, Arkansas and Duke are considered the frontrunners.
For what it’s worth, 247Sports has posted 4 separate crystal balls for John Calipari and Co. to land Smith on Friday, including Duke insider John Watson.
So, why is this such massive news for the Razorbacks? Well, Smith is considered to be the No. 2 overall prospect in the Class of 2026, and Arkansas has been pursuing Smith for quite some time. The Razorbacks originally offered Smith on October 30, 2024, and he took an official visit to Fayetteville on September 19 of last year.
Smith hails from Fairfax, Virginia and attended Paul VI Catholic School. The 5-star talent stands at 6-2 and is known for his elite defensive ability, alongside an impressive ability to get downhill. He has some work to do as an outside shooter and struggled from the free throw line, but still averaged 19 points per game in high school.
