Judge makes final ruling in Charles Bediako eligibility case
Charles Bediako has seemingly played his final game for Alabama basketball.
Bediako’s injunction was denied by a judge on Monday evening, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. This effectively ends Bediako’s controversial return to college basketball.
Bediako played in 5 games for the Crimson Tide this season. He averaged 10 points per game and also contributed 1.4 blocks per contest. He made 2 starts, playing just over 21 minutes a night.
His final game with Alabama was a big one. He came off the bench and scored 12 points while grabbing 3 rebounds in a narrow road win over Auburn on Saturday. That victory means Alabama is just 2 games behind first place in the SEC regular season standings.
Bediako previously played for Alabama, but turned pro after the 2022-23 season. Bediako received a temporary restraining order to return to college basketball last month.
Here are details on the ruling, which was made by Tuscaloosa County Court Judge Daniel Pruet:
Bediako’s attempted return to college basketball has been controversial on a number of levels. SEC commission Greg Sankey was among those lobbying for Bediako to be ruled ineligible given that he previously signed NBA contracts.
Alabama will face Ole Miss on Wednesday night.
