Kentucky basketball reportedly interested in former Michigan State forward seeking 5th year

Kentucky head coach Mark Pope recently said that the Wildcats are still looking to add at least one more player to their 2026-27 roster.
On Saturday, CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported that the Wildcats are in contention for former Michigan State forward Jaxon Kohler, who is looking to return to college hoops after a Friday blanket injunction declared him eligible for a 5th season.
According to Rothstein, Kohler is also considering BYU and Kansas as well as a potential return to Michigan State.
As far as late additions go, Kohler would be an incredible asset for Kentucky. He nearly averaged a double-double last season at Michigan State, starting 35 games for a team that advanced to the second weekend.
After exhausting his college eligibility (before Friday’s ruling, that is), Kohler went undrafted and played for the Utah Jazz Summer League team alongside No. 2 overall pick Darryn Peterson, and he more than held his own. In a July 6 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, Kohler totaled 11 points, 7 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block across 22 minutes of action.
Kentucky’s frontcourt currently features Malachi Moreno, Ousmane N’diaye, Frank Kepnang, Milan Momcilovic and Reece Potter.
