Mark Pope says Kentucky is still seeking to fill final roster spot for 2026-27

As things currently stand, Kentucky has 14 scholarship players on its roster for the 2026-27 campaign.
That means there’s still one vacancy the Wildcats can fill for the upcoming season. While most rosters across college basketball are set, head coach Mark Pope says his staff is still working to land a 15th scholarship player.
“We’re actively, every day in conversations with everything from international guys, reclass guys, still transfer portal guys, and then of course this looming fifth-year eligibility, which would bring a huge influx of talent into the recruitable pool right now, some guys that could be game changers,” Pope told reporters on Friday morning, via KSR.

Kentucky lost multiple high-profile recruiting battles this offseason, notably for 5-star freshman Tyran Stokes (Kansas) and international wing Nikola Kusturica (UCLA).
Those losses have contributed to UK having a vacancy on its roster this deep into the offseason. The Wildcats did add numerous portal additions earlier this cycle, including former Washington guard Zoom Diallo and ex-Iowa State forward Milan Momcilovic, among others.
Kentucky will be hoping to take a significant step forward next season in Year 3 under Pope. The Wildcats were bounced in the second round of the NCAA Tournament as a No. 7 seed this past March.
